On December 10, 2022 at 0323 hours the WVFD, along with companies 3 and 4, were alerted to a residential structure fire in the Chilton area of the 1st due. Chief 2a (Basar) added company 1 and a tanker task force due to the area having no hydrants. Upon the arrival of Chief 2a he found a two story residential house with extensive fire on the delta side. The fire was extending into the two story part of the structure. E22 (English) laid a supply line into the residence and began initial search and fire attack. Tanker 2 (Rouse) picked up the water supply and set up for the arrival of additional units. Company 4 set up a rural water supply operation upon arrival. A fill site was established at Company 2 with Engine 6 (Gawen) operating the fill site. Units operated for approximately 3 hours on the scene.
Companies that responded to assist the WVFD were, Company 1- Colonial Beach VFD, Company 3- Cople District VFD, Company 4- Oak Grove VFD, Richmond County VFD, Callao VFD, King George Fire and Rescue, Tappahanock-Essex VFD, Westmoreland County Sheriffs Office, Westmoreland Department of Emergency Services and the WVFD Auxilliary.
