The Westmoreland VFD was founded in 1948. We are located in historic Westmoreland County, VA. We protect the citizens of Montross and the surrounding areas. There are over 150 miles of roads, and approximately 5,000 people in our first due. Included in our first due is Stratford Hall the birthplace of Robert E. Lee. The WVFD also has a sub-station located in Mt. Holly, VA (Engine Co. 5). We consist of 100% volunteers that dedicate countless hours to help the citizens of Westmoreland County. Engine Co. 2 houses 6 pieces of apparatus and our sub-station Co. 5 houses 3 pieces.
Station 5 was opened Dec. 2005 to assist in reducing response times in WVFD's lower run area. Station 5 is dispatched with every call that Engine Co.2 is placed on.
Future site of WVFD Company 7. Intersection of Stratford Hall Rd. and North Independence Rd.
