Sending our thoughts and prayers to the family and fire family as well. RIP Chief BrooksSpotsylvania Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department Chief Norman Brooks, at the news of his untimely passing. Chief Brooks, who was also a retired Battalion Chief with Spotsylvania County, served the community and positively impacted lives for the past 47 years in our system. Originally joining as a volunteer firefighter in 1972, Chief Brooks was one of the first four career firefighters hired by Spotsylvania County in 1981. Over the years, Chief Brooks moved up through the ranks of the career and volunteer agencies, assuming the reins as the Chief of the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department in 2013. This loss will be felt by the many fire and EMS members he served alongside for almost half a century. Chief Brooks had a contagious laugh, a heart for the community, and was regularly described as a “Firefighter’s Chief” because of the passion he maintained for responding to emergencies and helping those he worked with. Information on services will be shared as soon as arrangements have been made. In the meantime, please join us in supporting his family and our community as we mourn his passing. ...
